CF 5 "FREEDOM FIGHTER"419 "Moose" Tactical Fighter Training Squadron, Cold Lake, Alberta 1988
In June 1988, along with Captain Jane Foster and 24 other male students I commenced the six month Basic Fighter Pilot Training Course conducted at 419 "Moose" Squadron on the CF 5 Freedom Fighter. As Course Senior in addition to learning and flying it was my duty to serve as the administrative liason between the instructional staff and students. We all worked very hard together, played hard together and had exceptional support from our instructors. It is with great pride that I announce, we were the first Basic Fighter Pilot course in many many years to graduate all 26 original starting members! Graduation was however just another step in the process of becoming a fighter pilot and six more months training were to follow on the CF 18 Hornet.
